Sometimes, all you need is a strong cup of coffee and five quiet minutes. But other times, you may want to turn a routine into a proper moment. Our frozen drink maker, Q-Slush, takes the coffee you already make and turns it into something you'd happily serve. Plus, it looks as good as the expensive drinks sold at the coffee shop in town. All of these recipes work in the same way: pour, press a button, wait for the beep. Easy as that.

A Little Groundwork
Every mix here needs a minimum of 5% sugar to freeze correctly. Below that, the Q-Slush will sense it and stop itself rather than risk solid ice, so if you see a low-sugar warning, stir in another spoonful and start again. Keep solids, ice, fruit pieces, whipped cream, out of the tank itself; they belong on top, once the drink is poured. And always chill your base first. It's a small habit that saves a real stretch of waiting.
☕ Good to know: For these recipes, brew your coffee ahead of time as it needs to go into the machine cold, not hot.
Classic Café Frappé to Start Things Right
A frappé at its most essential: bold coffee, cold milk, just enough sugar to round the edges. No flourishes to hide behind, which is exactly the point. When the balance is right, you don't need one.
Serves 4
- 500ml brewed coffee, chilled
- 400ml whole milk
- 100g caster sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
Brew your coffee well ahead of time and let it cool fully in the fridge: a chilled base freezes faster and finishes smoother than one poured in warm.
Stir everything together until the sugar dissolves, then fill the tank between the MIN and MAX lines.
Select the Frappé preset, leave the temperature on its default setting for a softer pour, and let the machine take it from there. Three beeps, and it's ready to serve.
Pumpkin Spice Frappé for a Cosy Day

Cinnamon, nutmeg and clove don't need cooling weather to earn their place. This is a cosy drink with a little extra: served cold with warm spice against a frozen glass.
Serves 4
- 500ml brewed coffee, chilled
- 400ml whole milk
- 100g soft brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- ¼ tsp ground cloves
Warm the milk, sugar and spices gently in a pan until the sugar dissolves, then let the mixture cool fully before combining with the coffee.
Pour into the tank and select the Frappé preset. For a deeper pumpkin character, blend in 100g of pumpkin purée and trim the coffee slightly to keep the ratio balanced. Combine well.
What comes out is thick, warmly spiced, and worth making regardless of the season.
Velvet Vanilla Frappé for Something Richer

For the mornings a straight coffee frappé feels one note short. Vanilla bean and cream turn the same base into something closer to a dessert, rounder and slower to finish than your typical iced coffee.
Serves 4
- 500ml brewed coffee, chilled
- 500ml whole milk
- 150ml double cream
- 130g caster sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla bean paste
Combine the coffee, milk and cream, then stir through the sugar and vanilla bean paste until fully dissolved. The cream carries the texture here, giving the finished drink a velvet-like body rather than an icy one.
Pour into the tank, select the Frappé preset, and nudge the temperature setting up a touch if you prefer it thicker. A light drizzle of caramel on top isn't necessary but it rarely hurts.
Mocha Frappé or the Pudding One
Coffee and pudding, served in the same glass. The mocha sauce does most of the work, but a splash of cream is what keeps it from tasting flat.
Serves 4
- 500ml brewed coffee, chilled
- 500ml half and half (or whole milk)
- 150ml mocha sauce or chocolate syrup
- 2 tbsp caster sugar
Whisk everything together until the mocha sauce is fully worked through, with no streaks left, then pour into the tank.
Select the Frappé preset and let it run. Once it beeps, serve it fairly promptly; a mocha mix left too long in the tank softens past its best texture.
Finish with whipped cream and a further trace of chocolate sauce, if it’s that kind of morning.
Matcha Frappé for a Calming Break

A gentler start than a double shot, without asking you to give anything up. Matcha rewards a little patience: dissolve it properly before it meets milk, and the bitterness stays exactly where you want it - in the background, but still irresistible.
Serves 4
- 4 tbsp granulated sugar
- 4 tsp matcha powder
- 100ml warm water
- 900ml milk (dairy or plant-based)
Whisk the sugar and matcha into the warm water until every lump has gone. Matcha creates stubborn clumps once it meets anything cold, so this step is key.
Stir in the milk, pour into the tank, and select the Frappé preset.
The result is pale jade and a good deal steadier than your usual morning coffee. Slow release caffeine kick as a bonus.
Worth the Extra 5 Minutes
There's a version of your morning where coffee isn't just fuel, it's the best five minutes of the day so far. That's what Q-Slush is really for: turning a routine you already have into one you look forward to. Once it's part of the morning, it has a way of becoming the part you'd miss most.
And coffee is only one side of what the tank's built for. The same machine turns fruit into a proper slush on a warm afternoon, or a round of frozen cocktails once the evening takes over. Enjoy, that’s the QOVO difference.
